Better Off

New Couvo single

Better Off is streaming everywhere today. It’s the second single from the upcoming album, and it’s one of my favorites.

There’s nothing fancy about this one. A simple song for a simple story. But one that feels appropriate for December.

It’s an ode to the way a year ends, the way a new one begins.

We all carry a hope that something better’s coming. It can be hard to believe that in the face of everything going on in the world: forests burning, smog overtaking our lungs, wars raging in faraway lands that either break you open or leave you numb from the sheer distance of that reality from your own.

It’s a lot to take in. But the belief that we can take what’s here and make a brighter future out of it—well, that’s perhaps the only task we have as human beings.

So here’s to the ones that are dreaming of something better. Let’s hope it’s coming soon.

SINGLE-RELEASE SHOW

If you’re in NYC, come celebrate the new song with us @ Arlene’s Grocery tomorrow night.

Going off the whole “hope for a brighter future” thing: I will be donating a portion of the proceeds from this show to Palestine Red Crescent Society. From what I understand, they’re doing some great humanitarian work in Gaza right now.

Also—if we sell out, I’m releasing a ska version of my song Bar Bathroom.

So… see you there? Yep, see you there.
